First Church affirms the foundational teachings of Christianity. All that we do is based on the following truths we hold as essential beliefs. |
We Believe... |
| In one God, the Creator of all things, who reveals Himself as Father, Son and Spirit. |
| In Jesus Christ, who being one with the Father, became like us to bring about our salvation. |
| That the Spirit of Jesus Christ (the Holy Spirit) is active in the world, drawing us to Him. |
| That the Bible is the word of God, giving us all we need to know about how to have a right relationship with God. |
| That we are all sinners by nature and by actions, and that we need God's forgiveness and cleansing. |
| That Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose again, and that, by trusting in Him, we can be restored to a right relationship with God. |
| That when we are forgiven, the old record of sin is wiped clean, and we are born anew, thus becoming part of the family of God. |
 That
after being born again, we need the fullness of God's Spirit in our
lives. When we make a complete commitment to Him, He cleanses our
spirits, fills us with His love, and gives us the power to live victorious lives of integrity.
That those who have placed their faith in Jesus will have an eternal home with Him in heaven, and those who reject Him will suffer eternal separation from God. That someday Jesus Christ will return. |
