Our Staff

Phil has led our church since 1987. He holds a
bachelor's degree in Biblical Literature, a Master of
Divinity degree, and is currently pursuing his Doctor of
Ministry degree through the Association of Chicago
Theological Schools. In addition to his
ministry here, he is a writer and serves as an adjunct
professor at Spring Arbor University.

Ken Garner |
Senior Associate Pastor |

 |
A veteran youth pastor who has been ministering here for
the last twelve years, some of the material Ken has
written is being used to train youth pastors at the
university level. Ken holds a BA and an MA from Olivet
Nazarene University. He now serves as our Senior
Associate Pastor in charge of staff. |

Dalton McNulty |
Church Administrator |

 |
After working a number of years in the corporate world
in the Human Resources and Leadership Development
fields, Dalton joined the First Church staff in 2002 as
our Church Administrator. As a lay member with a
long history of service to our local church in various
capacities, Dalton continues to work with staff and
volunteers to help First Church function! |

Teresa Garner |
Senior High Youth Pastor |

 |
Teresa brings great skill and enthusiasm to the senior
high youth ministry of our church. She is a gifted
speaker and musician. She holds BA and MA degrees
from Olivet Nazarene University. |

Bryce Gernard |
Junior High Youth Pastor |
|
|
 |
Bryce has a heart for ministry to junior high students
and we have a heart for him! While attending Olivet
Nazarene University he interned here in the Youth
Ministry. Upon completion of his studies, Bryce worked
for Turning Point Teen Centers, serving teens in the
Jackson Northwest Schools community. However, his
passion was for working with teens in a church setting. |

Crystel Watts |
Children's Pastor |

 |
Crystel was born and raised in upstate New York. She is
a graduate of Cornerstone University with a Bachelor of
Arts degree in Psychology. Before beginning her ministry
at First Church, Crystel was employed by Youth Haven for
four years, serving as Children's Program Director. |

Margie Hein |
Hospitality Pastor |

|
 |
Margie brings a welcome smile and a servant's heart to
the Hospitality Ministry at Jackson First Church. She
is always on the lookout to make guests feel welcome in
our church. Margie is constantly recruiting friendly,
helpful volunteers who will create an atmosphere that
fosters community. |

Becky McNulty |
Associate Pastor - Pastoral Care |

 |
Becky came on staff in 2001. Prior to this she spent 15
years in the Human Resources field. After completing a
Clinical Pastoral Education program for hospital
chaplains through the Samaritan Counseling Center in
Toledo, she worked as an Associate Chaplain at Foote
Hospital for four years. |

Kerri is another of our past interns who came back to
serve on staff with us. As a Spring Arbor University
student, she interned in the Music & Worship Ministry
during the spring of 2005. |

Tony Frewen |

Tony came to Jackson First several years ago intent on
growing in his faith and moving along in his journey
with Christ. Little did he know when he began attending
here with his family that God would call for such a
radical change in his schedule and his life! Tony has
been a part of the music industry for most of his life
and has shared the stage with Nashville recording
artists Tim McGraw, Clint Black, Wynonna Judd and
others. |

Carol Stout |

Carol has been a part of this church community since
moving to Michigan from northern Indiana in 1987. Her
contribution to the operations of the church is evident
in the flow of information that occurs through the
Sunday and Wednesday bulletins, our informational
brochures, and the church newsletter for which she
writes as well as edits and publishes. |

Dena Hayner |
Administrative Assistant |

Dena has been a part of this church body for 17 years.
She is also one of our most vocal and involved
supporters, active as a volunteer in Compassionate
Ministries and the food pantry. In her spare time, Dena
is the Administrative Assistant for the church, which
means that she is the glue that keeps our church office
operating smoothly! |

Lynne Williams |

Lynne Williams grew up in the Jackson area and has
attended First Church since 1989. Over the years, many
ministry areas, including Compassionate Ministry, Small
Groups Ministry, Hospitality Ministry and Kids! First,
have all benefited from her involvement. Lynne serves
with enthusiasm and an upbeat attitude in all that she
does. |
