Question:

How can I help? Is there a way for me to serve God through First Church?

Answer:

Yes! You will definitely want to attend our "Discovering What You Do Best" class. This is a great first step that will help you discover your spiritual gifts, God-given passion and personal style. It will also direct you to an area of ministry that is a good fit for you personally! And you can always stop by the Welcome Center and say, How can I help?

Question:

How can I find a small group that works with my schedule and meets my needs?

Answer:

There are several ways. You can let us know of your interest on the bulletin tab while attending a service, picking up a ministry card from the display racks located by the Welcome Center and in the church foyer, asking an attendant at the Welcome Center, or by contacting Pastor Ken Garner at 782-7084 ext. 1201. You can also indicate your interest by clicking on the "Contact Us" page.

Question:

What's the big deal about small groups?

Answer:

The Bible describes the church of Jesus Christ as a body and believers in Christ as parts of that body. If body parts are disconnected, they die! We think everyone needs to be connected. Small groups give us the ideal opportunity to experience life-changing relationships in a positive environment. Our church is growing larger. Being a part of a small group keeps you from getting lost in the crowd.

Where can I learn more about what First Church believes and practices?

Answer:

New Community is an informal, interactive class geared to explaining who we are, from where we've come, and where we are heading as a church. It also gives you an opportunity to catch the heart and vision of First Church.

First of all, congratulations! A good step is to sign up for the next New Beginnings class, which will teach you about the basic beliefs and spiritual practices of the Christian. You will want to start attending Koinonia, our Wednesday worship service, and get involved with a small group -- it will be your best safety net!

Question:

If the weekend services are focused on introducing the values of Jesus Christ, when do you worship?

Answer:

We focus our attention on worship at 7:00 pm on Wednesdays during our Koinonia service. (Koinonia is a New Testament word which means close fellowship or community.) We worship through congregational singing, prayer and teaching on daily Christian living. On the last Wednesday evening of each month we share the sacrament of Holy Communion (also known as The Lord's Supper or the Eucharist).
