Jackson First Church of the Nazarene
![]() |
I'm Phil Stout, lead pastor here at Jackson’s First Church of the Nazarene. Thanks for checking us out! At JaxNaz we’re on a journey. We’re trying to discover what it means to follow Jesus Christ, both individually and collectively. When Jesus called his first disciples he didn’t say, “accept me” or “figure me out.” He said, “follow me” – join me on the journey. And that's what we're trying to do! |
| JaxNaz is comprised of all kinds of people at all stages of their spiritual journeys. Some of us have been on this road for a long time. Some of us are trying to discover our faith for the first time. And many of us fall between those two points. The one thing we all have in common is our search – our journey. So whether you’ve been a Christ follower for a long time or you’re just beginning to explore your God-concept, we invite you to join us on this journey. To help you on your way, visit my blog, daily meditations and more at www.philstout.org. And, again, thanks for stopping by! | |

Building for Those to Come! |
If you've attended Jackson First Church in the last month, you've undoubtedly noticed some major changes taking place outside the south end of our building. (Check out our 'Construction Cam' page.) That's because we're "Building for Those to Come!" We're adding a new tool to help us reach even more people for Christ. Projected to be occupied by May of 2010, this new addition will house a 1000-seat sanctuary, expanded nursery facilities and almost a doubling of our Commons area. The current building will also undergo extensive remodeling with the children taking over our current sanctuary, a teen center with twice the room and an expansion of our staff office space. |

However, ask anyone around here and you won't hear much about how big the building will be: you'll hear about all we'll be able to do in order to reach our community for Christ! A few weeks ago at our groundbreaking, Pastor Phil asked each person to take a wooden stake and write on it what he or she wanted to see happen in the new building. Various ones wrote about friends and family that they would like to see begin a relationship with Jesus Christ. Others wrote about feeding and clothing the poor. And still others wrote about desired spiritual growth both in the lives of their children and in their own lives. When each one finished writing, the stakes were then pounded into the ground where our new building will stand. These stakes stood as statements to what God will do in this place. It's an exciting time to be part of Jackson First Church of the Nazarene! |
